On Sunday, we went horseback riding. It was awesome. The horses were huge! And, it was some of the fellows first time;so that just made it better. In my opinion the trip was something I will never forget. I love how we were able to bond with one another. I also liked how we were able to see the Amish as the "other" mainly because as Muslims were always seen as the "other”, so it was fun playing another role for once. Okay...so,Friday-Sunday the DMH fellows, allies, and a few supporters attended an Exposure Activity to a camp retreat,in an area not far from Amish farms! The space that we stayed in was really nice;very comfortable. We even had a piano! Lol. On Saturday we ate lunch at an Amish home. The food was really good, and we got to ask the ladys some questions. One thing that I found rather interesting was how similar the Amish religion is to Al-Islam. For example, the women wear these caps on their heads that cover their hair and the men wear hats;in Islam the women wear Hijab (scarves) and the men wear kufi's (small hates). Some of the other things we did were visit an Amish owned bakery,an Amish pharmacy, and an Amish owned furniture store. The pharmacy was amazing;how their medicine was from fresh herbs and some other things. When it got darker, we sat around a bonfire and was led into a recap session by two DMH allies/supporter, many and Amal. What we basically did was talk about our experiences.

Wow! That's fantastic. I was always so curious about the Amish and admired their lifestyle. I'd love to see some pictures.Where their stereotypes that we generally imagine about the Amish people that you found to be incorrect?

It made me feel like an actor hired to play another role in a way;being that we were able to see the Amish as the "other"
